Linux already powers everything from supercomputers to mobile phones. Google runs more than 10,000 Linux servers. Amazon.com switched to Linux and saved a cool $17 million. The French National Assembly has started using Ubuntu on more than 1,000 computers. Since the blockbuster movie “Shrek,” the DreamWorks studio has been using Linux to render its 3-D graphics and special effects.

Bill, You’re Killing Me
September 5, 2007After three years of neglecting my daily writing exercise, a burst of inspiration ignited last night and I decided to take up the pen again. Morning came with renewed enthusiasm. I set down at the kitchen table and began to type away. Not to sound too cliche’, but like coming home again, all was well. The fingers, although sluggish and rebellious at first, soon found their rhythm. Everything went south when, summarily, each open screen began to close and the disgusting appeared; “Your system will now shut down.” What the heck! I didn’t do anything. That’s when it hit me. Bill, you’re killing me.

Reminder to self: Don’t try to be organized.
August 9, 2007Isn’t it funny when you can’t locate something only to realize that the reason you can’t find it is because you put it away where it was supposed to go? That happened to me today. I’m the most unorganized person in the world and when a coworker of mine needed an important folder, I had no idea where to find it. After some time had passed, I discovered the treasure right where it was supposed to be; neatly preserved in a small black filing cabinet adjacent to my work area. And would you believe, in alphabetical order. It should have been resting underneath all of the other crap piled up on my desk. I wonder if there’s something wrong.
